Surgical Procedures

Thank you for choosing Ask The Vet for your pets medical needs. Preparing your pet for a medical procedure can be a bit nerve wracking. We want to reassure you that we will care for your pet as you would. Below are the Ask The Vet medical procedure/surgery guidelines. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

  • Once your appointment has been scheduled, we will need a confirmation from you a week prior to the medical procedure/surgery.
  • A surgical deposit fee is required a week prior to any medical procedure/surgery.
  • If the confirmation of your scheduled appointment and the deposit fee are not completed a week prior to the medical procedure/surgery as a courtesy the appointment will be moved to the next available date.
  • The evening prior to your pets scheduled medical procedure/surgery your pet must fast. Fasting consists of absolutely no food or water after 8pm.
  • Your drop off time will be emailed/texted to you.
  • We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your drop off time and remain in your vehicle. We will contact you prior to retrieving your pet from your vehicle.
  • If you are running late for, drop off or pick up, please give us a courtesy call with your ETA to allow us the opportunity to accommodate you accordingly.
  • Once the medical procedure/surgery is completed your pet will be monitored for 1-2 hrs to ensure post-anesthetic recovery is normal; your pet(s) will not be discharged until he/she has awakened from anesthesia and is coherent.
  • The surgical team will contact you with a pick-up time once your pet’s medical procedure/surgery is completed. Once you arrive, please contact us at 866-880-7443 and remain in your car, the technician and Doctor will go over post-op care and any dispensed medications.
  • Prior to the medical procedure/surgery you were provided an estimate. If there are unforeseen changes that need to be made to the medical procedure/surgery you will be contacted for approval before proceeding. We ask that while your pet is in our care you are available for phone calls at the number given at intake.
  • If you will need to cancel the medical procedure/surgery please contact us within 1 week. If we are not contacted a $50 no show fee will be added to your invoice the next time you schedule your pet(s) for services.
